Background: Stretching approximately 530 miles, the Pennsylvania Turnpike is used by more than 190 million vehicles per year. L2M Foodservice Design Group has partnered with world-renowned concession planning company HMSHost to redesign over a dozen travel plazas along the turnpike.
Scope of work/distinctive features:
- Update and enhance 17 travel plazas situated on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, including the Somerset Township, Sideling Hill and Allentown plazas
- Incorporate popular, nationally recognized HMSHost dining concepts, such as Popeyes®, Burger King, Hershey’s Ice Cream, Pizza Hut and Starbucks (each plaza to feature three
to six concepts)
- Designs blend durability with visual appeal to create warm, inviting environments for weary travelers
- Redesigned plazas feature larger, food-court-style dining spaces, along with natural, ambient lighting and outdoor dining
- Design and construction process underway; all locations to be complete by 2010
